WR Detasseling in the News Again

The Chatham Daily News wrote an excellent article detailing WR Detasseling and the corn industry, interviewing several 2010 WR employees. The article entitled "Corn days come to a close" by Bob Boughner has been posted on THE JOB page under "What can a detasseler expect on the job?". Click on the link to read the article -- you might recognize a few of the students who were interviewed.

2010: Another Successful Season!

As the season comes to an end I would like to thank all of you for working so hard in the fields this past summer! Thanks for fighting through the heat, the rain and the mud. Please take note of the following important messages: Nearly all of you are yet to receive a pay cheque from WR for the work that you did in NON-Pioneer fields. A WR representative will call you prior to Aug 10 with information about your final pay cheque. There will be some paper work to complete at the time of cheque pickup. For this reason, please make arrangements to pick up your cheque in person. PLEASE NOTE: Final pay-cheques will not be mailed as signatures are required. All the best for the rest of the detasseling season and for the rest of the summer. WR Management.

Your first day of work is very important; do you best to impress your crew leaders by working hard and showing respect to your co-workers and supervisors. A memo detailing explanation of your pay, saftey regulations, and pertanent details will be provided to you on your first day. Please take this document home to your parents. A working outdoors form will also go home for your parents to sign and return. Good luck to you all, and enjoy the sunshine!
